Epcot
Epcot is the second most popular of the Disney Theme Parks spread over 300 acres it is twice the size of the Magic Kingdom. Epcot has two distinct areas, Future World & World Showcase, you can walk from one to the other. To see everything at Epcot set aside a full day, and if you want to do anything more than a quick tour of the World Showcase you'll probably need a second day here. Although Epcot has some great rides the park is more educational than excitement. On entering the park the first ride you will come across is Space Ship Earth.
Space Ship Earth This is a leisurely ride located inside the giant globe that has long been Epcot's trademark. The ride take you slowly up the inside of the Epcot globe giving an indepth view of communication through the ages.
The Living Seas This is another leisurely ride, which takes you down into the Ocean to explore the shark, manatees, manta rays and dolphins which live there.
Honey I shrunk the audience This is A 3D movie, based on the famous film Honey I shrunk the Kids.
Body Wars Not a thrill ride but a flight simulator ride taking you through the human body. This ride is definitely more lively than the other leisurely rides in this half of the park.
Living with the Land An enjoyable ride looking at hydroponics and other leading edge technological solutions which could be used to increase food yields and eradicate hunger.
Test Track GM Test Track is for the thrill seekers visiting Epcot. Guests are staped into racing cars and put through a series of tests i.e hill climb, heat and cold, breaking and then out on the track to do a speed test. Sit back and hang on.
Soarin One of Disney’s latest attractions. Here you are on board a hang glider wizing over orange groves down ripids in the mountains and more. Feel the wind on your face ,the smells of the trees and the orange blossom as fly over. This is a great ride for all the family.
To avoid the long queues, take advantage of the free Disney Fast Pass system which allows you to get a time frame to return to your favourite ride.Once you have this, return to the ride within the time frame on your ticket, join the express line which saves queueing for too long. You can only have one Fast Pass running at a time, but once the time has expired, you can get another one.
The second half of the park is called World Showcase, and usually opens an hour or two after Future World.
This half of the park is centred around a huge lake and showcases examples of culture, food, music and dance from each of: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Britain, France, Japan, Italy, Morocco, Canada and the United States.
One great idea for children is to collect a free cardboard mask on a stick from one of the stalls. As you visit each different country they will stamp it for you and give you a cardboard shape which represents their country to tie on to the mask. It makes a great souvenir although it does mean the kids will want to walk right round the lake and visit each country. Finish your day at Epcot with the IllumiNation firework and laser show. You'll get a good view from just about anywhere around the lake so it isn't difficult to find a good spot.
Have a great day out at Epcot
