Orlando's water parks
The main water parks in the Disney villas area are Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, along with Wet-n-Wild and the brand new park Aquatica. All these parks offer great rides for all the family and a splashing day out.
Blizzard Beach.
Blizzard Beach is one of Disney Worlds superb water parks, based on the theme of a ski resort. The park has some fantastic rides for all ages and all based on the winter theme. One not for the faint hearted is the 120 foot high 60 mile an hour summit plummet.
Teamboat Springs is the world's longest family raft ride, at 1,200 feet long it takes up to six-passengers in rafts down a series of twists and rushing water falls.
Runoff Rapids is an inner tube run, where riders can careen down three different twisting, turning flumes. Toboggan Racers is an 8-lane high speed water slide that sends riders racing over bumps and dips as they shoot down to the finish.
For those of us that are not up to the climb to the top of mount gushmore there is a chair lift which runs from the beech to the summit.
Should you wish to just chill and watch the world go by then you need to head over to Cross Country Creek, Here you grab a tube sit back and relax as you slowly make your way round this lazy river that encircles the entire park. Tike’s Peak is a smaller version of Mt. Gushmore, just for children. It includes short water slides, a snow-castle, fountain play area and a squirting ice pond.
Typhoon Lagoon.
Typhoon Lagoon is a Disney created 56-acre water park that is home to a two-and-a-half-acre wave pool, one of the worlds largest ( waves as big as six feet are sent at you every one and a half minutes)
Castaway Creek is Typhoon Lagoons version of the lazy river. This takes you gently around the park on a 2000 foot journey in an inner tube. The river is 3-4 feet deep and takes you slowly through banana trees, palm trees, tropical birds and flowers.
Fairly new to Typhoon Lagoon is Crush n’ Gusher, a thrilling experience that defies gravity as powerful jets propel passengers on rafts through every surprise filled turn until they splash land in the pool below. A number of water and storm slides await you at Humunga Kowabunga, which sends you shooting through enclosed tubes at around 30 mph to a splashing surprise ending.
For the little ones there is Ketchakiddie Creek especially for children aged two to five. There is a small pool and water slide, fountain and bubblers, interactive water boats, and even a pint-sized white water rafting adventure. An adult must accompany all children.
Aquatica.
Aquatica is the newest addition to Florida’s water parks. Located across the street from SeaWorld Orlando on International Drive and is open year round. This new park offers a vast selection of tube ride, raft rides, lazy river and a wave pool. Wet-n-Wild.
Wet ‘n Wild is the oldest water park in the Orlando area, but it is continually adding new rides and slides for the entire family. With over a dozen thrill rides including a number of multi-person and family rides and a newly refurbished wave pool, you should have a fantastic day out.
